Update From Douglas Black

I have to apologize, I have been busy and haven't been keeping up with posting here. Douglas Black sent along this image of his sculpture "Inner Guardian". I can appreciate his excitement at installing the piece in its new home since I love to see where my creations end up living. On Tribe Douglas says of Inner Guardian "ceramic sculpture fired to 2260F(1240C) in a sagger of charcoal and rice husk. old plate glass cut and fused in layers, and also cast, in my gas kiln. A steel spear I ground out of a piece of flat bar. Lit from the inside with a copper shaded LED cluster at the bottom and a cool white LED at the top. I was really happy with this one. The firing was magical and all of the inlaid glass and steel fit perfectly. Even more happy that it found this beautiful home of an art collector, perched on a cliff over the ocean in Shizuoka Prefecture. The place is featured in architectural magazines and books published internationally."
Beautiful!
